Controversial Nigerian singer Portable (Habeeb Okikiola) has stirred fresh reactions after declaring that he will support any political party that offers him money in the upcoming 2027 general elections.
In a viral video posted on his Instagram page on Thursday, Portable addressed his fans, insisting that he cannot campaign for free.
“I can’t be campaigning around and be hungry. My fans, hope your voter’s card are ready? We will be voting for any candidate that gives us money. Election is starting soon. I’m voting for anyone that gives me money, that can help my life. I’m the owner of my life and my voter’s card,” he said.
The singer stressed that hunger and hardship would determine his loyalty, adding that:
“If it is APC that first brings the money, they will own me. If PDP comes first, I will also collect. Even if it is Peter Obi, I will ask you to vote for him. Vote for anyone who gives you money. Vote for your helper.”
This is not the first time Portable has courted political controversy. In 2024, he openly called out President Bola Tinubu for failing to support him financially despite his endorsement during the 2023 elections.
Portable’s latest comments have sparked online debate about the influence of money in Nigerian politics and the role of celebrities in shaping voter decisions.
