Detectives of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested 46-year-old Jude Onouha, the leader of a notorious syndicate that posed as security operatives to infiltrate residential estates and vandalize high-end vehicles.
According to investigations, the gang wore fake security uniforms and used a Mercedes-Benz car jack, modified to look like a firearm, to deceive estate guards and gain access under the guise of conducting security checks. Once inside, they targeted SUVs such as Toyota Hilux, Toyota Highlander, Lexus 650, and Mercedes-Benz, stealing vital components including brainboxes, wiring systems, tapping glasses, side mirrors, and control devices.
Police recovered a Mercedes-Benz car jack and a “Special Force” face cap used for disguise from the suspect. Onouha has confessed to the crimes and is assisting detectives with further investigations, while efforts are underway to apprehend other gang members and their accomplices.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, urged estate managers and security guards to thoroughly verify the identity of anyone claiming to be a security operative before granting access. He encouraged collaboration with local Divisional Police Officers and provided emergency contact numbers — 08063299264, 09053872208, and 08087332678 — for quick intervention.
