Veteran entertainer and activist Charly Boy has revealed how Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, paid him an unusual early morning visit — carrying along a Ghana Must Go bag.
In a post shared on his X (Twitter) handle, Charly Boy narrated that Obi called him around 1 am, saying he planned to stop by at 5 am. Despite the odd timing, he agreed.
When Obi arrived, he brought along a large Ghana Must Go bag. Curious about its contents, Charly Boy was surprised to later discover it was not cash or valuables but a thoughtful mix of local fruits and snacks.
“Inside the bag was 3 bottles of roasted groundnuts, many alligator pepper, kolanuts, pawpaw, oranges, agara, mangoes, bananas… all packed by himself,” Charly Boy wrote in pidgin.
He added that Obi told him:
“Senior, I no fit give you money, but I fit give you this one, na my hand pick.”
The gesture, Charly Boy said, left him laughing uncontrollably, describing it as a show of “native intelligence”.
Charly Boy, a known supporter of Obi and member of the Obidient Movement, campaigned vigorously for him during the 2023 presidential elections.
