Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has demonstrated strong support for veteran musician and broadcaster, Dr. Yinka Ayefele, following the fire incident that destroyed parts of the Fresh FM headquarters in Ibadan last Friday.
On Tuesday, a video shared by Oyo Affairs on X (formerly Twitter) captured moments of joy as Makinde, represented by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Ademola Ojo, presented Ayefele with a brand-new SUV Jeep. The presentation was also witnessed by the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Wasiu Olatubosun, and the Governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Sulaiman Olanrewaju.
Makinde had earlier visited the radio station on Sunday evening to commiserate with Ayefele and his management team over the loss. He assured that the state government would intensify efforts to strengthen emergency management and fire response systems, ensuring faster and more effective service delivery in future emergencies.
Ayefele, visibly moved by the governor’s gesture, appreciated the support and solidarity shown to him, describing it as a morale booster for his team and listeners.
The governor’s intervention has been widely praised as both a compassionate gesture toward a cultural icon and a reminder of the state’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property.
