Celebrity chef Hilda Baci is preparing to take on another historic food challenge, this time aiming to create the biggest pot of jollof rice ever cooked.
In a post shared on Instagram, the Nigerian chef revealed that the enormous dish will be made in a gigantic pot measuring six meters in both width and height. According to her, the plan has been in development for the past two years, and she is thrilled that it is finally coming to life.
Unlike a regular cooking competition, the event will double as a cultural showcase, featuring Nigerian cuisine, music, and communal celebration. It has been scheduled to hold on September 12, 2025, at Muri Okunola Park, Victoria Island, Lagos.
Reflecting on her journey, she reminded her followers of her record-breaking cookathon in 2023 that captured global attention. She wrote:
“In 2023, the Hilda Baci cookathon took the world by storm. This year, it is Jollof, the heartbeat of West Africa.”
Baci emphasized that the project goes beyond food preparation, describing it as a festival of heritage and unity.
“A taste that tells our story. It is more than cooking, it is a celebration of our food, our culture, our music, and us. We are making history again, and I want you to be there when it happens.
Two years ago, I imagined the largest pot of Nigerian Jollof rice the world had ever seen. Today, with Gino, a brand we all grew up with, my dream is becoming a reality.
Hi, I am Hilda Baci, and on September 12, 2025 I will be making the largest pot of Nigerian Jollof rice the world has ever seen in this six meters by six meters pot.”
Baci first gained international recognition in May 2023 when she earned a Guinness World Record for the longest individual cooking marathon. Although that record was later overtaken by Irish chef Alan Fisher in November of the same year, her reputation as a culinary trailblazer remains strong.
