Olawale Rasheed, spokesperson to Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, has dismissed reports suggesting that the governor is planning to leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
In a statement released to journalists in Osogbo, Rasheed described the reports as false and a deliberate attempt by political opponents to create confusion among Osun residents.
“We want to reiterate for the umpteenth time that Governor Adeleke remains committed to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and has no plan whatsoever to join the ADC or any party for that matter,” Rasheed stated.
He emphasized that Governor Adeleke’s priority remains delivering the dividends of democracy to the people of Osun, who gave him their mandate three years ago.
According to Rasheed, the governor and PDP leaders are focused on strengthening the party’s structures and mobilizing voters ahead of next year’s election, where Adeleke is confident of victory.
He further noted that the wave of unsolicited endorsements for Governor Adeleke is unsettling political opponents who fear his popularity.
Rasheed urged the public to disregard any rumors of defection, encouraging supporters to remain focused on mobilizing votes for the governor’s re-election under the PDP.
“As a man of the people, Governor Adeleke recognises the overwhelming goodwill and confidence that Osun people have in the PDP and his leadership. His Excellency is not against and will not go against the will of the people,” Rasheed affirmed.
