Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has lauded the overwhelming show of love and solidarity from his supporters following his return to Port Harcourt on Friday.
Thousands of loyalists, popularly known as the Simplified Family, had converged at the Government House on Thursday expecting to welcome the governor ,but were left waiting after he failed to appear.
However, upon his arrival at the Port Harcourt International Airport on Friday, a large crowd of supporters thronged the venue to receive him.
“I Am Truly Humbled” – Fubara
Addressing the supporters, Fubara described the reception as deeply humbling, acknowledging that he had been briefed about the massive turnout at the Government House a day earlier.
“I’m really humbled by what I saw at the airport today. I was also briefed with photography of what happened here yesterday. That reception really humbled me; it showed love, confidence, and solidarity,” he said.
The governor, who is expected to fully resume office following the suspension of the state of emergency in Rivers, reassured the people of his commitment to delivering good governance.
“I want to assure you that we will, by the grace of God, continue to do those things that made you love us,” he added.
