A four-bedroom flat converted into a tailoring factory in the Eleyele area of Ibadan, Oyo State, was gutted by fire in the early hours of Saturday, September 20, 2025.
The incident occurred at Benjamin Alabama junction, with equipment and properties worth millions of naira reportedly destroyed. Fortunately, no casualties were recorded.
Confirming the incident, the Chairman of the Oyo State Fire Service, Maroof Akinwande, said his team received a distress call at 04:15 a.m. and immediately mobilised officers to the scene.
“The emergency was reported through a telephone call. Our officers, led by ACFS Bamidele Samsudeen, promptly mobilised and swung into action,” Akinwande explained.
He added that the fire affected the ground floor of a storey residential building being used as a tailoring factory. Firefighters were able to curtail and restrict the flames, preventing further damage to the building.
Akinwande urged residents to report fire incidents quickly and provide accurate addresses during emergencies to ensure faster response times.
The cause of the fire has not yet been confirmed, but investigations are ongoing.
