The Special Assistant on Media Mobilization to Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia, Atu Terver, has spoken out about his recent abduction in Abuja, describing it as a deeply traumatizing experience.
Terver was kidnapped on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, and regained freedom two days later on Friday, September 19, 2025. In a heartfelt message shared on Saturday morning, he expressed gratitude to family, friends, and well-wishers who prayed and advocated for his release.
“It wasn’t a funny experience,” he wrote, recounting the “traumatizing thoughts of what will happen to me and what becomes of my family if the worst happens.”
Upon his release, Terver was taken to St. Christine’s Hospital, Abuja, where doctors confirmed he had no major injuries after thorough checks. He disclosed that he was placed on medication, advised to rest, and is now feeling “much better.”
The governor’s aide also announced that he would give a full account of his ordeal during a live session with activist Ukan Kurugh.
“God is really wonderful and this has convinced me more that He still comes through for His children,” Terver stated.
Authorities have not yet provided details about the circumstances of the kidnap or those responsible.
