Veteran Nollywood star Bimbo Akintola has stirred conversations online after sharing her candid views on infidelity during a recent podcast appearance.
The actress argued that cheating has long been a part of Nigerian society, stressing that it is a reality most men cannot escape.
In her words:
“The majority of our men cheat. Your father cheated, sir. Sorry, I’m sorry. Your grandfather did. Polygamy, polygamy. Yes, my father has two wives.”
Akintola further noted that women should approach relationships with a sense of realism rather than denial.
“You leave one man because he cheated, you go to another, the same problem. Jay-Z cheated on Beyoncé. Did she leave? No. So please, let’s talk about the reality we are facing.”
She went on to question the concept of fidelity in African culture, insisting that infidelity is almost normalized.
“I don’t know where this idea of fidelity came from in Africa. The reality is 90 to 99% of our men cheat, it’s ingrained in them. Some even grew up following their fathers to see girlfriends.”
Her comments have since gone viral, drawing mixed reactions from fans and sparking heated debate about relationships, culture, and expectations in Nigerian society.
