Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have recovered ammunition and other materials during an exploitation mission in Banki, Bama Local Government Area of Borno State.
The mission, conducted on September 19, 2025, in collaboration with hybrid forces and the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), followed recent airstrikes on Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) positions in Banki and Bula Yobe. The strikes, carried out on September 18, reportedly killed at least 32 insurgents.
According to security analyst Zagazola Makama, the patrol was launched to assess the battle damage and confirm the impact of the coordinated strikes.
Items recovered during the sweep included:
-
A full box of 12.7mm x 108mm ammunition
-
A box of 7.62mm x 51mm NATO rounds
-
A bicycle
-
A woodland camouflage shirt
Troops also uncovered shallow graves believed to contain insurgent casualties but could not fully access all strike locations due to the challenging terrain.
The recovery underscores the sustained pressure on ISWAP by Nigerian forces, who continue to push back against insurgents in the Northeast.
Authorities say further operations will continue to secure the Banki axis and its surroundings.
