The Lagos State Police Command has arrested 55-year-old Samsideen Oladiti, popularly known as “Shamelon,” over two violent incidents on Lagos Island — one resulting in death and the other in serious injury.
Police spokesperson SP Abimbola Adebisi said that on September 17, 2025, Oladiti allegedly attacked a dispatch rider with a helmet and his fists, leaving the victim hospitalized and on oxygen.
A separate complaint linked him to an August 28, 2025, incident where he allegedly struck a man multiple times with a metallic ring, causing fatal injuries. The victim was confirmed dead on September 17, 2025.
Following the news of the death, angry sympathizers staged a violent protest at Oladiti’s office in Sandgrouse Market, Lagos Island, burning two of his motorcycles.
Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, led officers to the scene, restored order, and assured residents that Oladiti is in custody and will be prosecuted after investigation.
