The Ekiti State Government has banned graduation ceremonies for pupils in kindergarten, nursery, primary, and secondary schools ; both public and private, across the state.
The ban will take effect from the 2025/2026 academic session, according to a circular signed by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Mr. Mike Omolayo.
The government said the move is aimed at reducing financial pressure on parents and curbing excesses often associated with end-of-session ceremonies.
Additionally, the state announced that primary school textbooks will now be reviewed once every six years, while secondary school textbooks will be reviewed once every four years instead of three.
Parents and guardians have also been encouraged to pass textbooks down to younger siblings, provided the books remain in good condition.
