Katsina businessman, Anas Ahmadu, his seven-month pregnant wife, Halimatu, and their two-year-old daughter have regained their freedom after spending three weeks in captivity.
The family was released on Wednesday night, September 17, following 21 days in the hands of their abductors.
A relative who spoke to Daily Trust confirmed that a ransom of N50 million was paid before their release.
“Alhamdulillah! Anas, Halimatu, and their daughter have been released by their captors tonight. They are on their way home. But a ransom of N50 million was paid to the assailants,” he revealed.
For security reasons, he declined to disclose the exact location where the victims were picked up.
The abduction took place on August 26, 2025, at the family’s residence in Filin Canada Quarters, Katsina metropolis.
The kidnappers had initially demanded N600 million for their release but later reduced their demand to N100 million on September 3, before finally agreeing to N50 million.
