Former Tottenham Hotspur and Paris Saint-Germain manager Mauricio Pochettino is one of four coaches on Manchester United’s shortlist to potentially replace under-fire boss Ruben Amorim.
According to TouchlineX, United are closely monitoring Pochettino alongside Oliver Glasner, Andoni Iraola, and England manager Gareth Southgate.
Amorim, who only took charge of the Red Devils in November 2024, has found himself under growing scrutiny after a poor start to the current campaign. Despite public backing from United’s board, pressure is mounting as results continue to falter.
The Portuguese tactician signed a long-term deal set to run until summer 2027, meaning United would have to pay significant compensation to terminate his contract early.
Unfortunately for Amorim, the statistics paint a grim picture. United have endured their worst start to a season in 33 years, collecting just four points from their opening four Premier League matches.
While the club remains hopeful of a turnaround, insiders suggest that continued poor performances could force the hierarchy’s hand. In that case, Pochettino — who has Premier League experience and a reputation for developing squads — could be the leading candidate to step into the Old Trafford hot seat.
