Heartland FC technical adviser, Emmanuel Amuneke, has expressed confidence in his team’s ability to secure promotion back to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).
The Naze Millionaires, who were relegated to the Nigeria National League (NNL) last season, will compete in the Southern Conference Group A alongside Crown FC, Edel FC, Sunshine Stars, E-World FC, Inter FC Lagos, Smart City FC, Godswill Akpabio United FC, Abia Comets, and Beyond Limits.
According to the NNL format, only the first-place team in each group will automatically book a ticket to the NPFL.
Amuneke, a former Super Eagles winger and ex-Golden Eaglets coach, is optimistic that Heartland can outshine their rivals despite the tough competition.
“We have been expecting the draw, and with what we have done since June when the team resumed rebuilding, we are ready to compete. It is a welcome development, and we respect all the teams in our group because they deserve to be there,” Amuneke told the club’s media.
Heartland fans are hopeful that Amuneke’s leadership and the squad’s rebuilding efforts will be enough to restore the Owerri-based side to Nigeria’s top-flight football.
