A three-storey building under construction collapsed on Friday night, September 12, 2025, at 333 Borno Street, Alagomeji, Yaba, Lagos State, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has confirmed.
According to a statement posted on NEMA’s official X handle on Saturday, the building gave way at around 8:30 pm, leaving several people trapped beneath the rubble.
Rescue Efforts Underway
Eyewitness accounts differed, with some claiming that six people were trapped and others reporting five victims. However, emergency responders have so far rescued four adult males alive, who were immediately taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
NEMA noted that the exact number of persons still trapped remains unclear, but operations are ongoing to locate and evacuate any survivors.
