Chinese actor Yu Menglong, one of the country’s most recognisable stars, has died at the age of 37 after reportedly falling from a building.
According to his management team, the tragedy occurred on Thursday, September 11. In a heartfelt statement posted on Weibo, they wrote:
“With unbearable sorrow, we announce that our beloved Menglong fell to his death. Police have ruled out any criminality. We hope he rests in peace and his loved ones remain strong.”
The news has left fans across Asia in shock. Menglong was best known for his role in the hit fantasy romance series *Eternal Love*, which garnered over 50 billion views on Netflix in just 18 months.
Speculation about his death began earlier in the day, when a paparazzi account claimed the actor had fallen “from a height” at a friend’s apartment in Beijing. According to reports, he had locked himself in a guest room around 2 a.m., and his friends discovered his body later that morning.
Police have confirmed there is no evidence of foul play but say investigations are ongoing.
