The Ekiti community of Otun Ekiti witnessed a star-studded gathering on Tuesday as top Nollywood actors joined Odunlade Adekola for the Christian wake of his late father, Pastor N.A. Adekola.
Pastor Adekola, who died in July at the age of 84, is being honored with ceremonies in both Ekiti and Ogun States. The burial rites began with a Service of Songs on August 18 at Christ Apostolic Church, Akole, Abeokuta. The Christian wake and lying-in-state followed on August 20 in Otun Ekiti.
The final interment is scheduled for August 21 in Otun Ekiti, alongside a thanksgiving service and reception.
Notable Nollywood stars such as Ibrahim Chatta, Muyiwa Ademola, Eniola Ajao, and Ireti Osayemi joined family, friends, and fans to pay tribute and support Odunlade during the emotional event.
Since announcing his father’s passing on Instagram in July, Odunlade has received an outpouring of condolence messages from fans and colleagues across Nigeria’s entertainment industry.
The funeral ceremonies reflect the deep respect and admiration for Pastor Adekola, while also highlighting the strong bond within Nollywood as colleagues rallied around one of their own.
