Nigerian music continues to dominate the global stage as Billboard unveiled its list of the Top 50 Greatest Afrobeats Songs of All Time. At the top of the chart is 2Baba’s iconic “African Queen”, a track widely regarded as one of the most influential African love songs.
Wizkid’s “Ojuelegba” claimed the second spot, cementing its legacy as a song that helped push Afrobeats into global recognition. Following closely, Flavour’s “Nwa Baby (Ashawo Remix)” was ranked third for its infectious rhythm and cultural impact.
The new wave of Afrobeats was also celebrated, with Rema’s global hit “Calm Down” taking fourth place and Wizkid’s “Essence” featuring Tems rounding out the top five.
According to Billboard, the ranking was curated to “commemorate the game changers of the genre,” considering factors such as cultural influence, popularity at home, international reach, and commercial success.
This recognition further highlights how Nigerian artists have shaped Afrobeats into a global powerhouse, bridging continents and uniting fans worldwide through music.
